Rulers 2e - Basic Rules

This is an online TTRPG rulebook

Rulers, is a tabletop roleplaying game of civilizations. As the governing monarch of your realm you will deal in the economy, politics, and military campaigns of your own nation as you guide your culture towards greatness.

The Basic Rules made available here are intended to provide a setting agnostic system that can be played as a standalone game. Alternatively it can be used as a template for simulating the power of factions in another TTRPG or as an engine from which you can build your own game using the Rulers System.

Key Features:

• 30+ Pages. There are rules for building cities, mustering armies for war and drafting treaties with other players along with guidance on how to setup your first game.  
• Always online. The Basic Rules for Rulers will always be available online in a "wiki-style" format.
• Free to download. Visit the "Versions" page to download a complete .HTML file of the enitre rulebook, along with past iterations.
• Abstract numbers. Thanks to its high-level abstraction, any narrative can be told in Rulers.
  
• Setting agnostic. As much as possible the  Basic Rules have been written so that it can be used in any setting or historical time period.
• Forever updating. Physical rulebooks are static, but as an online rulebook, I am able to update Rulers add more content or fix balance issues. Monthly blogs on what's being worked on are posted to Patreon.

The Itch.io edition hosted here is a fully interactive HTML embed of the whole game. It is updated monthly if changes to the game have been made.

Known Issues

• Sometimes, you need to click more than once on the "coin" for the click to register and link you to the main page. This doesn't appear to be in anyway related to the position of the coin (flipped or mid-flip).
• Refreshing the page takes you back to the coin "start menu", instead of refreshing the page you are viewing.
